The team.
Trinity Geothermal is owned and led in equal thirds by its three founding partners.
John Carr
John has worked in Texas oil and gas exploration since 1977, when he earned his geology degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He cut his teeth as a staff geologist at Delta Drilling Company, then moved into geophysics at Power Exploration before joining a startup exploration venture, Sunnybrook Oil and Gas. After that company was sold in 1984, he started his own exploration company, which has continued in different forms ever since — most recently as Carr Resources, Inc., where he serves as President.
He is a Certified Professional Geologist and Texas Professional Geoscientist, and has held leadership roles with the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, CASA, the East Texas Geological Society, and Smith County Child Welfare.
Greg Carter
Greg is a petroleum engineer with four decades in the energy industry, spanning reservoir engineering, offshore drilling systems, and power infrastructure. He began his career at Tenneco and Duke Energy before spending eleven years at Nabors Industries, rising to Engineering Manager over its drilling and workover rig operations across the Gulf Coast, Brazil, and Southeast Asia.
Since 2001 he has founded and built a series of energy engineering companies, including Nautilus Offshore Company, Sea Technology (acquired by Drew Marine), and Deependable Subsea, delivering project management and equipment design for operators such as ExxonMobil, BP, and ConocoPhillips. He currently owns Trilogy EPC, which designs and installs power solutions across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale energy projects, and holds a Petroleum Engineering degree from Texas A&M and an MBA in Finance from Houston Baptist University.
Hunter Carr
Hunter is a geologist and business strategist with over a decade in oil and gas, currently serving as Vice President of Carr Resources, Inc. after nine years as its Exploration Geologist. He holds a Master's in Petroleum Geology from the University of Houston and a Bachelor's in Geology from the University of Georgia, and pairs technical subsurface work with deal structuring and commercial strategy. He has followed the progress of the Texas geothermal industry since 2015, an interest that helped bring Trinity Geothermal together.
He serves as Chairman of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and President of the East Texas Geological Society, and is active with the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies — roles that keep him closely tied to the independent producers and geoscientists working across the region.
